Application areas
- Railing systems with 90° T-connections
- Stern and bow baskets (pushpit/pulpit)
- Handrails with right-angled cross connections
- Bimini top constructions
- Davits and cranes
- All pipe connections with 90° branch
Function and benefits
The 90° T-piece combines two functions in one component:
-
Deck mounting - Secure hold on the deck like a normal railing foot
-
Right-angle branch - 90° connection for cross braces or reinforcements
-
Universally applicable - Can be used on the left and right, no specific orientation required
-
Space-saving - One component instead of two separate fittings
-
Compact - Only 50mm in length for discreet integration
Can be used on the left and right
A major advantage of this T-piece is its universal applicability. Unlike right- or left-handed versions, this T-piece can be used on either side. This significantly simplifies planning and inventory management.
Material advantage of stainless steel 1.4401 (AISI 316)
Stainless steel 1.4401 (also known as AISI 316 or V4A) offers optimal properties for maritime use:
-
Molybdenum-containing - Highest corrosion resistance
-
Saltwater resistant - Suitable for continuous use in aggressive environments
-
UV-resistant - No embrittlement from sunlight
-
Highly durable - even under heavy mechanical stress
-
Maintenance-free - No care or after-treatment required
90° angle - Ideal for
The 90° angle is perfect for:
-
Right-angled designs - standard in most railing systems
-
Cross connections - braces at right angles
-
Handrail branches - Side handles and supports
-
Stable construction - Optimal power transmission at 90°
Assembly instructions
- Reinforce the deck at the mounting point (e.g. with a plywood sheet under the deck)
- Drill through holes for fastening screws
- Apply sealant to base
- Secure with stainless steel screws and washers
- Secure nuts below deck with locknuts
- Insert and secure the pipes into the sockets.
Size selection
22mm tube diameter (RELT290): For lighter constructions and smaller railing tubes.
25mm tube diameter (RELT90): Standard for most railing tubes and stable constructions.
Important: Measure the outer diameter of your pipes to select the correct size. Both versions are 50mm long.
Typical applications
-
Bow pulpit construction - Right-angled cross connections
-
Rear basket reinforcement - 90° T-connections for additional struts
-
Handrail systems - Right-angled side branches
-
Bimini frame - connection of supports and crossbars
-
Davit constructions - Stable base with right-angled bracing
Advantages over hinged T-pieces
-
More stable - No moving parts, higher strength
-
Simpler - No screws required for opening/closing.
-
Longer lifespan - Fewer wear parts
-
More affordable - Simpler construction
Note: This T-piece is designed for installation before the pipes are threaded. For retrofitting to already installed pipes, we recommend hinged T-pieces.
Ideal for
- Boat builders for new builds
- Professional shipyards
- Boat owners for conversions
- Repair of bow and stern pulpits
- DIY projects with railing constructions
- All applications with 90° T-connection
