The D-SPLICER Fixed F-15 needle is especially beginner-friendly and works exceptionally well even with tightly braided ropes. Start with simple whips using rigging thread before attempting eye splices. The splicing tape is your best friend—use it liberally! Practice first on scraps of old rope. If you later find you also need classic splicing needles, you can always purchase them separately—the D-Pouch offers plenty of space. The ceramic knife is very sharp—work carefully and store it with the blade guard.

This set is designed for ropes with a diameter of 2-8 mm – ideal for standard sheets and halyards. For thicker ropes, you will need additional tools (e.g., the D-SPLICER Fixed F-20 or F-25). The set focuses on modern hollow splicing on braided rope. For traditional splicing on laid (twisted) rope, you will need classic splicing needles (included in the Sailor Set or available separately). The ceramic knife is extremely sharp but also brittle – do not drop it. Splicing takes practice – don't expect your first attempts to be perfect. After contact with salt water, the tools should be rinsed with fresh water and dried.
