90° stainless steel railing base - Stable deck mounting with rectangular base

The 90° stainless steel (AISI 316) railing base with a rectangular shape is the professional solution for attaching railing tubes, handrails, and supports to the deck. Its 90° angle provides optimal stability and it is available for either bolting or welding.

Product features

  • Stainless steel 1.4401 (AISI 316) - Highest corrosion resistance
  • 90° angle - Right-angle deck mounting
  • Rectangular base - Stable mounting surface for secure attachment
  • Two pipe sizes - For 22mm and 25mm pipe diameters
  • Two mounting options - for screwing or welding.
  • Saltwater resistant - Ideal for continuous maritime use

Available versions

Item No. Pipe Ø angle La (mm) LL (mm) Ba (mm) BL (mm) fastening
EK97040 22 mm 90° 77 60 43 27 Screw it on
EK97041 25 mm 90° 81 66 48 29 Screw it on
EK97125 25 mm 90° 81 66 48 29 Welding

Explanation of measurement:
La = Outer length | LL = Perforated strip length | Ba = Outer width | BL = Perforated strip width

Application areas

  • railing tubes and handrails
  • Stern and bow baskets (pushpit/pulpit)
  • Supports for bimini tops and sunshades
  • Davits and cranes
  • Antenna masts and flagpoles
  • All vertical pipe connections on deck

Mounting methods

Screw-on (EK97040, EK97041):

  • Easy assembly with screws
  • Ideal for GRP decks and wooden decks
  • Disassemblable if required
  • No welding required
  • Perfect for retrofitting

Welding (EK97125):

  • Permanent, extremely stable connection
  • Ideal for steel decks and aluminium structures
  • Maximum load capacity
  • Professional solution for new buildings
  • No visible screws

Material advantage of stainless steel 1.4401 (AISI 316)

Stainless steel 1.4401 (also known as AISI 316 or V4A) offers optimal properties for maritime use:

  • Molybdenum-containing - Highest corrosion resistance
  • Saltwater resistant - Suitable for continuous use in aggressive environments
  • UV-resistant - No embrittlement from sunlight
  • Highly durable - even under heavy mechanical stress
  • Maintenance-free - No care or after-treatment required

Advantages of the rectangular base

  • Larger contact area - Better load distribution on the deck
  • More attachment points - Increased stability through multiple screws
  • Twist-proof - Rectangular shape prevents rotation
  • Stable - Optimal power transmission under lateral loads

Assembly instructions

For screw mounting:

  • Reinforce the deck at the mounting point (e.g. with a plywood sheet under the deck)
  • Drill through holes
  • Apply sealant to base
  • Secure with stainless steel screws and washers
  • Secure nuts below deck with locknuts

For welding assembly:

  • Clean and degrease the surface
  • Position and align the railing foot
  • Weld all around (TIG welding recommended)
  • Rework and polish the weld seam

Size selection

22mm tube diameter: For lighter constructions, handrails and smaller railing tubes.

25mm tube diameter: Standard for most railing tubes, supports and stable constructions.

Important: Measure the outer diameter of your pipes to choose the correct size.

Ideal for

  • Boat builders for new builds and conversions
  • Boat owners for retrofitting
  • Professional shipyards
  • Repair and maintenance of railing systems
  • DIY projects on boats
