Material advantage of stainless steel 1.4401 (AISI 316)
Stainless steel 1.4401 (also known as AISI 316 or V4A) offers optimal properties for maritime use:
-
Molybdenum-containing - Highest corrosion resistance
-
Saltwater resistant - Suitable for continuous use in aggressive environments
-
UV-resistant - No embrittlement from sunlight
-
Highly durable - even under heavy mechanical stress
-
Maintenance-free - No care or after-treatment required
Advantages of the rectangular base
-
Larger contact area - Better load distribution on the deck
-
More attachment points - Increased stability through multiple screws
-
Twist-proof - Rectangular shape prevents rotation
-
Stable - Optimal power transmission under lateral loads
Assembly instructions
For screw mounting:
- Reinforce the deck at the mounting point (e.g. with a plywood sheet under the deck)
- Drill through holes
- Apply sealant to base
- Secure with stainless steel screws and washers
- Secure nuts below deck with locknuts
For welding assembly:
- Clean and degrease the surface
- Position and align the railing foot
- Weld all around (TIG welding recommended)
- Rework and polish the weld seam
Size selection
22mm tube diameter: For lighter constructions, handrails and smaller railing tubes.
25mm tube diameter: Standard for most railing tubes, supports and stable constructions.
Important: Measure the outer diameter of your pipes to choose the correct size.
