The HELLA 8504 series position light is a high-quality combination lantern that integrates a masthead light and deck spotlight into a compact housing. Ideal for mast mounting on vessels under 20 meters in length.
This professional navigation light combines a 25W masthead light (white all-round light) with a powerful 55W H3 halogen deck light. The masthead light provides the required 360° visibility, while the deck light optimally illuminates the deck in the dark – two functions in one light!
The robust white plastic housing is splash-proof according to protection class IPx4 and designed for marine use. Side mounting allows for easy installation on the mast. Both bulbs (BAY15d 12V/25W and H3 halogen 12V/55W) are included.

What is a masthead light? A masthead light is a white, all-round light mounted on the mast of sailboats under power. It shines across a 360° arc of the horizon and is visible from all directions.
Visibility 3 nautical miles: The HELLA Series 8504 meets the international regulations for vessels under 20 meters in length with a visibility of 3 nautical miles.
Use: On sailboats under power, the masthead light is used in addition to the sidelights. It indicates to other water users that the vessel is under power.
55W H3 Halogen: The integrated deck spotlight with a 55W H3 halogen bulb provides powerful illumination for the deck. Ideal for anchoring maneuvers, mooring in the dark, or working on deck at night.
Separate switching: The masthead light and deck spotlight can be switched independently of each other. This allows you to use the deck spotlight as work lighting even without the masthead light.
Practical benefit: The combination of navigation light and work light in one housing saves space on the mast and reduces installation effort.
Splashproof: The IPx4 protection class means that the light is protected against splashing water from all directions. This makes it suitable for marine use and able to withstand rain, spray, and splashing water.
Not for diving: The light is not waterproof and should not be submerged. However, for normal use on a mast, the protection is perfectly adequate.
Side mounting: The HELLA 8504 series is designed for side mounting on the mast. The mounting screws are inserted through the housing from the side.
Positioning: Mount the light as high as possible on the mast to ensure optimal visibility. Make sure the masthead light is not obstructed by sails or other structures.
Wiring: Run the cables through or along the mast. Ensure proper installation with a sufficient cable cross-section (especially for the 55W deck spotlight).
Light sources: Both light sources (BAY15d 12V/25W for the top light and H3 12V/55W for the deck spotlight) are included in the scope of delivery.
Top light (BAY15d): Open the housing, gently push in the BAY15d bulb, turn it counterclockwise, and pull it out. Insert the new bulb, gently push it in, and turn it clockwise.
Ceiling spotlight (H3): Open the housing of the ceiling spotlight, unplug the H3 bulb, and remove the bulb. Insert the new H3 bulb and plug it back in.
HELLA stands for the highest quality in marine lighting. The 8504 series impresses with its robust construction, reliable function, and long service life. The combination of masthead light and deck spotlight in a single housing is particularly practical and saves space on the mast. Perfect for sailboats and motorboats under 20 meters in length that are looking for professional navigation lighting with integrated work lights.
