Install the battery switch in an easily accessible location so it can be reached quickly in an emergency. Despite its IP67 protection rating, a sheltered mounting location is recommended. Use a high-quality padlock made of stainless steel or brass for marine environments. Ensure adequate ventilation around the switch. Use appropriately sized cable lugs for secure connections. Always switch off the main switch when the boat is not in use for extended periods – this prevents battery drain and increases safety.
When installing, ensure correct polarity and use adequately sized cables (rated for at least 250A). The switch should be installed as close to the battery as possible. Tighten the connections securely to avoid contact resistance. Never switch off the main switch while the engine is running – this can damage the alternator and other electrical components. Ensure all electrical consumers are switched off before operating the main switch. Regularly check the function and condition of the switch and its seals to maintain the IP67 protection rating.
You will receive a CARLING battery switch BD 12/24V 300A (CABD10) - ready for installation in your vehicle's electrical system. Padlock not included.
