What is a luff zipper?

A luff zipper is sewn directly into the luff (the leading edge) of a headsail. It allows the sail to be quickly and easily attached to or removed from the forestay without having to thread the entire sail. This is particularly useful when changing or furling sails.

Assembly and use

The luff zipper is sewn directly into the luff of the sail. The other side of the zipper is attached to the forestay. The single-sided auto-lock slider allows the sail to be attached to the forestay from bottom to top, with the automatic locking mechanism preventing the zipper from opening under load.
