The splice pusher is an indispensable tool for professional hollow splicing work on braided rope. It significantly facilitates pushing the rope through tight braids and makes working with splice fids considerably more efficient and comfortable.
| Item No. | Description |
|---|---|
| GR9206 | Pusher for 6-14 mm rope |
| GR9216 | Pusher for 16-24 mm rope |
The splice pusher is used in combination with a splice fid. While the fid guides the rope through the braid, the pusher helps to push the rope end through in a controlled manner. This is particularly important when:
Energy saving: The pusher allows the force to be distributed evenly, protecting both your hands and the sensitive rope.
Precision: The pusher allows you to guide the rope through the braid in a controlled and precise manner, resulting in cleaner splicing results.
Time saving: Splicing work is significantly faster with the pusher, especially for longer splice sections or multiple passes.
Choose the pusher size to match your splice thread and rope diameter. For most work on sheets and halyards (8-12 mm), the smaller pusher (GR9206) is ideal. For thicker mooring lines or anchor rope, the larger pusher (GR9216) is recommended. The pusher is particularly helpful for the second and third passes of a hollow splice, once the braid has become compacted. A little trick: Hold the pusher at a slight angle to the rope – this will help it slide through tight spots more easily.
The splice pusher is an auxiliary tool and does not replace the splice fid itself. It is always used in combination with a suitable fid. Be careful not to apply too much force – if the pusher does not slide through easily, the fid may be too large for the rope or the splicing technique may need to be adjusted. Extra care should be taken with high-performance fibers such as Dyneema, as these fibers are sensitive to friction.
The splice pusher is the ideal complement to GLEISTEIN splice fids and other hollow splicing tools. Together they form the perfect set for professional splicing work on modern braided rope.
