Mount the battery box in an easily accessible but protected location. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially with wet-cell batteries, which can release gases. Secure the box itself to the boat for maximum safety. Tighten the tie-down strap securely, but not so tightly as to damage the battery casing. Regularly check the strap's tightness, particularly after extended trips or rough seas. Clean the box occasionally with water and a mild detergent. When changing the battery, it's a good time to also inspect the box for cracks or damage. The box is also ideal for use in motorhomes or as a stationary battery storage solution.

Ensure the battery fits in the box – check the internal dimensions (Li, Bi, Hi) before purchasing and compare them to your battery. The box should be securely mounted to the boat; the battery should not simply be strapped inside. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially with wet-cell batteries. Regularly check the condition of the strap and replace it if worn. Acid-resistant does not mean acid-proof – wipe up any spilled battery acid immediately. Always wear protective gloves and goggles when handling batteries. The box is designed for marine use but is not waterproof – it does not protect against water ingress from the outside.
