Install the main battery switch in an easily accessible location so it can be reached quickly in an emergency. Ensure adequate ventilation around the switch. Use appropriately sized cable lugs for secure connections. Clearly mark the switch positions (e.g., with stickers). Always switch off the main switch when the boat is not in use for extended periods – this prevents battery discharge and increases safety. During installation, ensure the switch is protected from splashing water. Regularly check the connections for tightness and corrosion.
When installing, ensure correct polarity and use adequately sized cables (rated for at least 140A). The switch should be installed as close to the battery as possible. Tighten the connections securely to avoid contact resistance. Never switch off the main switch while the engine is running – this can damage the alternator and other electrical components. Ensure all electrical consumers are switched off before operating the main switch. The switch is not waterproof – protect it from direct water ingress. Regularly check the switch's function and condition.
