The D-SPLICER ceramic knife is a professional tool for precisely cutting ropes and cables made with high-performance fibers such as Dyneema®, Spectra®, Technora®, or Vectran®. Due to its exceptional hardness, the extremely sharp ceramic blade stays sharp much longer than conventional steel blades and is also rustproof.
| Item No. | Model | For rope diameter | length | Blade length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MRC20 | C20 | 10 mm | 200 mm | approx. 105 mm |
| MRC24 | C24 | 20 mm | 240 mm | approx. 130 mm |
Ceramic blades offer decisive advantages over steel blades, especially when cutting modern high-performance fibers:
Long-lasting sharpness: Ceramic is significantly harder than steel and retains its sharpness much longer - even when frequently cutting abrasive high-performance fibers such as Dyneema or Spectra.
Less sharpening required: While steel blades quickly become dull when used with high-performance fibers, a ceramic blade remains sharp over many cuts.
No corrosion: Ceramic cannot rust or corrode - perfect for marine use where saltwater and moisture are ubiquitous.
Easy to clean: Simply rinse with water, dry – done. No special care required.
Smooth cut surfaces: The extremely sharp ceramic blade produces clean, smooth cut surfaces without frayed ends - important for professional splicing work.
Dyneema® / Spectra®: Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMPE) - extremely tear-resistant with minimal weight, very smooth and abrasive for blades.
Technora®: Aramid fiber with excellent abrasion resistance, durability and high cut resistance.
Vectran®: Liquid crystal polymer with excellent strength, minimal elongation and high abrasion resistance.
Blade guard included: Each knife comes with a blade guard that securely covers the sharp blade and protects it from damage.
Ergonomic handle: The handle fits well in the hand and enables precise, controlled cuts.
Compact size: Perfect for the onboard toolbox or splicing case.
Choose the blade size to match your most common rope diameter. The C20 model is ideal for standard sheets up to 10 mm, while the C24 is designed for thicker ropes up to 20 mm. When cutting heavy-duty fibers: Hold the blade perpendicular to the surface and make a quick, clean cut – no sawing! The ceramic blade is extremely sharp but also brittle. Avoid lateral stress or cutting on hard surfaces such as metal or stone. It's best to work on a wooden board or cutting mat. After cutting, you can seal the ends with a hot wire cutter.
Ceramic blades are extremely sharp but also brittle . Use the knife only for cutting rope and cordage—not as a lever or for any other purpose. Do not drop the knife, as the ceramic blade can break upon impact. Never cut on hard surfaces such as metal, stone, or concrete. Always store the knife with the provided blade guard. Ceramic blades cannot be resharpened using conventional methods—if necessary, the blade must be professionally sharpened or replaced. Keep the knife out of reach of children.
The D-SPLICER ceramic knife is the ideal complement to D-SPLICER splicing needles, splicing fids, and other hollow splicing tools. Together, they form the perfect set for professional work on modern, high-performance rope.
