High-quality double-sided adhesive tape from 3M with strong initial tack for permanent bonds on board! 3M Scotch double-sided tape is a transparent adhesive film without a backing paper, but with a protective paper liner. With its strong initial tack and extremely thin design (approx. 0.05 mm), it is ideal for invisible, permanent bonds on boats and yachts. Temperature resistant up to +80°C (briefly up to +120°C), it is perfectly suited for marine applications.
Double-sided adhesive tape is used on board for numerous assembly and fixing tasks. Typical applications include attaching trim strips, emblems, nameplates, or fittings where visible screws are undesirable. The tape is also ideal for securing cables, hoses, or seals. Its carrier-free design, at only 0.05 mm thick, allows for exceptionally thin bonds that are virtually invisible and conform flexibly to contours.
| Item No. | Width | Running length (m) |
|---|---|---|
| DM976-55 | 1/2" - 13 mm | 55 m |
Technical specifications: Item number DM976-55, manufacturer 3M Scotch, carrierless (without backing film), thickness approx. 0.05mm, color transparent, protective cover paper, temperature resistance permanently up to +80°C (briefly up to +120°C), high immediate adhesion on both sides, width 1/2 inch (13mm), running length 55m.
Typical onboard applications: trim strips and emblems (invisible attachment of nameplates and decorative elements), transparent parts (bonding of acrylic glass, plexiglass and transparent plastics), fittings (additional fixing of lightweight fittings and brackets), cable management (fixing of cables and wires to smooth surfaces), seals (attachment of sealing profiles and foam strips).
Professional tip for application: For optimal adhesion, both surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of grease. Clean the surfaces with isopropanol or a suitable cleaner before bonding. After applying the tape, press the joint firmly together. The high initial tack allows for immediate load-bearing capacity; full adhesive strength develops after 72 hours. Adhesive strength may decrease at temperatures above 80°C.
Important notes: The bond is permanent and difficult to remove. Therefore, carefully position the parts to be bonded before applying final pressure. Not suitable for rough or porous surfaces. Adhesive strength may decrease at temperatures above 80°C. For structural connections subject to high stress, we recommend additional mechanical fastening. Rely on 3M Scotch quality for professional, invisible bonds with high initial tack.
